Dear...

Dear Eva Simons,

You sound a little like Justin Bieber. Take that how you will.

Sincerely,
Megan

And I shall shout my thoughts from the rooftops so that all the world will hear...

“I think writers are the most narcissistic people. Well, I musn't say this, I like many of them, a great many of my friends are writers.”
Sylvia Plath

It's a daily battle against 'those people' .

The Up themselves. The Too confident. The Not so modest.

Not because they are rude or demeaning, I just don’t understand them. How is it that they can share their achievements, goals, thoughts and opinions so freely to any Tom, Dick, or Channing that happens to make eye contact? And this isn't just a real life situation, this is relevant to bloggers, journalists, Instagram 'selfie' takers.

I may also be a little jealous.

As a fairly shy person, for most of my life I have been wary of relaying thoughts that seem narcissistic in fear of being held up as being obnoxious or uppity. It’s just how I do. My mother is the same, neither of us are overly confident in expressing our pride or our confidence, and are not the types to tell the cashier at the shops about our achievements.

This is why I don’t have Twitter and rarely update my Facebook status. Who would want to hear what I have to say unless it’s important or something I find exceptionally witty (which although I find myself hilarious at all times, I don’t share in writing so I don’t get labelled as a pretentious over-sharer).

This is why, as a novice writer and blogger I have found it hard to update frequently. Who would want to hear my thoughts? I have a lot of opinions and ideas, but never the nerve to shout it from the proverbial rooftops. When it comes to sharing a project or outfit, something me-centric, I am paralysed with fear and can never press publish or never speak up.

It seems as though to be a successful writer you need to have a level of self confidence that surpasses the norm in order to feel that what you have to say is worthy of being heard and should be read by all.

Does anyone out there feel that in sharing their thoughts with the world they are doing a public disservice by putting more narcissism into the atmosphere - or are you a free sharer who will tell anyone with a pulse about your lifetime of achievements in bread making, your year 7 long jump win and your incredible proficiency at slamming down tequila?

Do you think narcissism comes hand in hand with being a writer?

Feeling Uninspired

Sometimes it hits us, inspiration. Other times it takes a while to gently build up.

Lately I’ve been feeling uninspired in many ways. I have no clue about my career, relationships, art, travel choices. The invigorating, exciting motivation that drives you to make crazy choices that may or may not work out but always leave you feeling refreshed and revitalized, has left me alone and feeling blah.

No matter how many times I try to make changes, nothing seems to be quite right. Perhaps I need a huge change rather than the small ones I have been taking. Bravery will be necessary. Or perhaps some great act of stupidity that I can look back on in 50 years and consider a perfect decision.

Anyone have any ideas of how to get my spark back? I’m at a loss as to how to regain the motivation and inspiration that has been missing from my life recently.

The top 5 reasons why I enjoyed the ‘Amazing Spiderman’

5. Andrew Garfield's goofy smile:

So cute.
Unlike most action hero spunks Andy (yes I will call him that, we’re close now that he's my secret boyfriend) doesn’t look all chiselled and tough. He looks normal and vulnerable and kind - just the kind of superhero that would totally date a normal girl.

Plus he reminds me of someone I know who I remember as being really nice– I just can’t figure out who!

4. Blonde Emma Stone:

Aside from the fact she is a brilliant actor and comedian it’s because of this movie she dyed her hair back to her natural blonde, thus leading to these great beauty looks and inspiring me to dye my hair back to blonde after a year of being a dark brunette.

3. Aunt May and Uncle Ben:

So much love between two people. It shows how I want my relationship to be like after 30+ years of marriage – containing a sense of humour and ever forgiving love. Plus, I love the meatloaf line.

2. This scene:

So very sweet, there just seems to be a lot of love and caring between these two – and it’s a little bit sweet how much she cares and how much he seems to want to make her happy.

1. Dat Ass.

What can I say?

An Inspirational Tale

You may have seen the documentary about young English woman Katie Piper, and the vicious and cruel acid attack in 2008 that left a beautiful, confident woman scarred and traumatised.

The Daily Mail has shared Katie's inspirational recovery process after her ex-boyfriend, Daniel Lynch, arranged for another man to throw acid on Katie's face, after a break-up that he was not so happy about.

If you or somebody you know are worried or scared for your safety due to the actions of another person, contact the police or local authorities as soon as possible.
It is never ok to feel scared for your health or safety.

What. the.

No, really. What the you know what.

Thank you Go Fug Yourself for bringing this picture into my life; and to Rosanna Arquette and her stylist for daring to wear this disaster.

It just has a way of making all my bad mistakes seem a whole lot better!

And it only gets better (or worse depending on your sense of humour) from the back...

Wow.
I didn't even know that things like this were even thought of by designers, let alone produced!

My (Imaginary) Life in London

I've visited London before and its just
GREAT!
A whole city full of art, and history, and fashion and exploration, with easy access to so many other cultural areas.

Here's my picks for what I would wear to brighten up a dreary day in good ole' London
My Life in London

Do you live/have lived in London?
If you have please share what it is like to live in the city, rather than just visiting!
